Summary: The BI Project Manager of IT Data and Analytics reports to the Director of Data and Analytics and will implement tools and strategies to translate raw data into valuable business insights.
The incumbent is responsible for the project management, coordination, planning, designing, building, testing, and deploying reporting and dashboarding solutions for the global Wabtec business.
Due to the complexity and the sheer number of transaction processing applications spread across the globe, the Data & Analytics team finds itself in the unique and critical position of being the best team within IT to quickly collect data from the many individual systems into common data models for business reporting and analysis.
This positions the team to provide business executives and management with the ability to analyze disparate data in global, functionally aligned applications to make critical business decisions to maximize Wabtec’s success in the Transportation Industry.
The Manager will be responsible for delivering what has been identified in the Data & Analytics 3-year strategic plan and updating that plan as needed to meet the changing business priorities.
The Manager will partner with other D&A and IT teams, following the Data Governance framework and IT operating model to ensure we build the best possible applications while applying the standard processes.
A successful candidate will communicate with business and technical leaders, bridging the gap by effectively translating concepts and requirements.
The Manager must have proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and a knowledge of data integration and reporting best practices critical to successfully performing this role.
Duties and Responsibilities: Leads program management ensuring evolution to more agile development methodologies and capabilities.
Manages BI Project deliverables.
Has accountability for the performance and results of multiple related teams within their area of specialty Develops the BI Strategy, priorities execution of the projects in support of the strategy, and contributes to the development and maturity of the D&A team.
Manages work assignments and team capacity to ensure the highest impact projects are appropriately resourced.
Responsible for team project planning and prioritization.
Collaborates with business partners to understand their requirements and corresponding needs, which results in providing solutions that can turn large and complex data sets into self-serve metrics and insights.
Leads the efforts on key projects to find best-fit solutions that help to tell a compelling narrative of the data that aligns with the intended audience.
Participates as leader and analyst to ensure business metrics and insights are identified, appropriately represented, and communicated.
Leads initiatives to support the build, optimization, and automation of BI solutions.
Provide technical guidance to the team.
Supervisory Responsibilities Monitoring and reviewing the work of staff members, including conducting annual performance reviews.
Ensuring staff compliance with Risk and Compliance policies (SOX, AVA Assessments, SOP Creation, etc.
) and completion of assigned compliance training sessions throughout the year Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
) University degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the Business Intelligence (reporting and dashboarding – OBIEE, QlikView, PowerBI, PL/SQL, Informatica, etc.
) area and Project Management of large, complex projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A deep understanding of the Business Intelligence area of IT and a passion for driving change and exerting influence across the enterprise.
Ability to develop good relationships with key business leaders and subject matter experts and gain their trust.
Practical understanding of relational database and warehousing concepts, OBIEE, QlikView, Informatica, PowerBI, and Microsoft SQL A demonstrated ability to project-manage large and complex projects, including: Creation of high-level project plans to meet or exceed the business needs and expectations.
Reporting project status to higher-level management clearly and succinctly.
The ability to team of developers, including frequent touchpoints to reinforce the goals of the projects and ensure timelines and budgets are being met Provide strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions or remediations.
Ensure all standard processes are being adhered to by the team, including project management, ITIL processes, and data governance processes.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement changes to processes and procedures as needed.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business priorities.
Proven ability to understand and learn many new BI-related technologies is a plus.
Knowledge of Financial data, including General Ledger and Subledgers and the Financial Closing process, is a big plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: This position is one that would require the Manager to be present in the office a few days per week as agreed to by HR and/or his manager.
However, this position can also be accomplished remotely from the employee’s home for some portion of their time if they have the permission of their management to do so.
This position will require the employee to maintain hours during a typical day to overlap with team members and business users worldwide, with special attention to people in the time zones of India, Paris, and the Eastern U.
S.
This position will likely require the employee to travel a few times annually to physically meet with management and team members.
